Wagering dice pool resolution system snippet
Not even half an idea. I may elaborate later but probably not. Feel free to steal. Thanks as usual to Ram for the idea of just putting half ideas in blog posts for later.
Dice pool system where the GM and the players roll d6 equal to hit dice at the beginning of combat.
Each round goes all move then all declare actions.
Actions made unopposed succeed at the cost of any number of dice, which determines degree of effect if relevant.
During opposed actions each contestant wagers a secret number of dice. Available dice values are public information.
Once all declared actions have been resolved any players with dice remaining may spend them to take additional actions.
If two opposed characters end in melee range of each other they are engaged.
In melee the winner deals the difference between the totals in damage.
Ranged attacks are opposed by dodging/shield/armor.
